Applebutter Bread- Recipe

It's almost fall time and we are getting apples from our neighbor's tree. This is so good! I've also made it using pumpkinbutter instead of applebutter. I'd like to thank WaHa for this wonderful recipe!!

Applebutter Bread
Makes 1 loaf

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
3/4 cup buttermilk
2 teaspoons soda
2 cups flour
1 cup apple butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon all spice
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 cup pecans

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Combine buttermilk and soda. Combine flour and spices. Add alternately with buttermilk beginning and ending with flour. Stir in apple butter and pecans. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hr or until wooden pick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pan for 5 mins; remove to wire rack and cool completely.

I share recipes with bakers all over the world and here is a few from the Baker Chicks

Blueberry Buckle

3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c veg. shortening
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 c. fresh or dry pack frozen blueberries, rinsed and drained

1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. soft margarine or butter

Mix sugar, shortening, eggs and milk until well blended. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg & cloves. Fold in blueberries. Spread batter in a greased 9" square pan. Combine last 4 ingredients & mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter. Bake at 375 for 45-50 min. or until top springs back when lightly touched. Serve warm, cut into squares.

blueberry cream pie

9" pie shell, baked and cooled

1/4 c. cold water
5 Tblsp. all purpose flour
Pinch of salt
4 c. fresh or dry pack frozen blueberries, rinsed and drained
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Make a smooth paste of the cold water, flour and salt. Boil 1 cup of the blueberries w/sugar and 1/2 c. water. Add the flour paste and stir until it thickens. Remove from stove and cool. When cool, fold in the remaining blueberries and pour into pie shell. Refrigerate. When cold, top with sweetened whipped cream or whipped topping.

Blueberry Banana Bread

2 cups sugar
2 sticks butter
5 medium bananas : mashed
4 eggs
4 cups of all purpose flour
3 tablespoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour 2 loaf pans. Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs; add bananas, then 2 cups of flour. Measure 2 cups more reserving 2 tablespoons to coat blueberries. Place remaining flour in sifter with other dry ingredients. Sift and fold into the banana mixture. Sprinkle 2 tbs. flour over the blueberries and coat well; then fold into batter. Divide the batter in to prepared loaf pans. Bake for approximately 50 minutes.

Blueberry-Pineapple Cream Cheese Salad

1 (6 oz.) pkg. raspberry-flavored gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 1/2 cups cold water
2 cups blueberries
1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple, undrained

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 (8 oz.) container dairy sour cream
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans

Stir gelatin into boiling water until dissolved; stir in cold water.
Stir in blueberries and pineapple.
Pour into a 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish.
Chill until firmly set ( about 3 hours ).

Mix cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla
until smooth; spread evenly over set gelatin.
Sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
Makes 12 servings.

A bit from her profile:“I am a thrift store fiend. While shopping one day I found a really loud pair of pants. I thought why would anyone ever buy them-they were neon orange. Being a bit silly I felt bad for them cause they would never find a home. Kinda like the Humane Society meets the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It was there that the inspiration hit me for my bags. I bought the homeless neon orange pants. I experimented with them and created my first booty bag. The rest is history. Now I regularly "adopt the unadoptable" of the horrible pants world.

Taco Soup

Taco Soup

1.5 pounds ground beef
2 cups diced onions
1 (15- ounce ) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15 1/2-ounce) cans pinto beans
1 (15 1/2-ounce) can pink kidney beans
1 (15 1/4-ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can Mexican-style stewed tomatoes
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (14 1/2-ounce) can tomatoes with chiles
2 (4 1/2-ounce) cans diced green chiles
1 (1 1/4-ounce) package taco seasoning mix
1 (1-ounce) package ranch salad dressing mix
Corn chips, for serving
Sour cream, Grated cheese, Chopped green onions, Pickled jalapenos, for garnish
Brown the ground beef and onions in a large skillet; drain the excess fat, then transfer the browned beef and onions to a large slow cooker or a stockpot. Add the beans, corn, tomatoes, green chiles, taco seasoning, and ranch dressing mix, and cook in a slow cooker on low for 6 to 8 hours. To serve, place a few corn chips in each bowl and ladle soup over them. Top with sour cream, cheese, green onions and jalapenos.

A Great Idea- Recycled Tags

I needed some tags for some promos I was working on for a show. I wanted something recycled and sturdy. So I decided to try paper grocery bags. I cut the bag into sheets that were approximatly 8 1/2" x 11 1/2" and would fit into my printer. I created my tags in a program and printed out onto the bag sheets and they turned out great! Count on a few extras just in case. Be sure to turn any print on the bag away from the printing side.

Specialsuds- Feature Friday

So far Feature Friday has been a shop that I have made a recent purchase from and this week is no exception.

Tina and her three boys run this wonderful shop. I first found this shop in the promo thread. She was offering the cupcake samples. I bought a Lavander Vanilla and absolutely love it. They also make larger bars and Tubby paint! This is a great set of tubby paints and a paint brush for your kids to use in the tub. Come by and check out the shop, don’t see a scent you want? She is very Convo friendly!
